If only the above title were the truth.
When we lose people to cancer, it leaves a horrible mark on our souls.
We are conflicted… yes, their suffering is over, and hopefully, they are at peace now but, at the same time, you’re selfish, you want them back, or better… you wish that they had never been sick, to begin with.

Anytime I talk about losing my father in law, I choke up, I can’t breathe, and I just want to crawl inside my mind, and shut out the world.
He was lucky. He had his family surrounding him his whole life… wife, sons, extended family… but, I only got to have him in my life for 19 of those years, and he made enough of an impression to be able to affect me, even after he is gone since January 1st, 2018.

My reason for participating in Relay For Life is my father in law and every family that has ever suffered and been left behind.
We need to be able to find a cure for cancer so that there are no more people left behind.
Of course, we need a cure for the people suffering but, a common misconception of cancer is that there is only one victim but, in reality, in most cases, there are several.

Patient, husbands, wives, kids, friends, co-workers. Strangers on the bus that they saw every day or the checkout person at the grocery store.

My wish is that we find a cure sooner rather than later, so there are no more victims.

One of the challenges that I have always participated in with Fantasy Faire is the “Why I Relay“.
And, in keeping with tradition, I have shared my story with you, many years running, and tonight, I am also participating in the “Faire Folk & My New Shiny“.

My Faire Folk creation is my Guardian Centaur… Standing guard, to protect lives, and souls affected by cancer.

And “My Ne Shiny” would be the centaur avatar that I received as a blogger from, Jinx… as well as my tattoo from, KUMIHO. Both new to me stores. And I am honored to share them with all of you.

The Fantasy Faire opens tomorrow, April 23rd at noon SLT, and runs until May 10th, 2020.
